Your Business- Your Future

As the world moves towards a new low carbon economy it becomes increasingly important for small to medium businesses (SMEs) to find ways to reduce their energy use, use energy more efficiently and, in doing so, save money.

Sustainable Regional Australia (SRA), on behalf of the Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance (CVGA), delivered the Your Business – Your Future program, that engaged 500 Central Victorian small to medium businesses (SME) in conversations, opportunities and activities designed to assist them to reduce their energy consumption and become more energy resilient.

Findings from the Your Business – Your Future project will provide regional leaders and policy makers with new insight into the barriers and solutions to the uptake of energy efficiency measures for SMEs. Data collected through the project may be used to inform future Government policy around business energy use and efficiency.

Benefits
The Your Business – Your Future project engaged SME owners and managers to learn about energy information and education presentations and the delivery of Business Energy Assessments. At a series of road show events in 2013, business owners and managers heard presentations and stories from other business owners who have successfully reduced their energy use and cut their energy costs.

Energy Information and Education
Using a whole of business approach, 500 businesses in the region received easily accessible and up-to-date information on how to reduce business energy use and cut costs.

Business Energy Assessments
150 Central Victorian businesses, across the 14 participating municipalities (scroll down to see the 14 participating municipalities map), received a subsidised Business Energy Assessment. The assessment included:
  • A 2-3 hour onsite visit from a qualified energy assessor with a follow up visit or phone call of up to one hour.
  • A bonus Energy Savings Kit (valued at $200) that includes energy saving devices and information.
  • Ongoing phone support during the project, which may include smart messaging if appropriate
  • Solar, energy efficient lighting information and support the take up energy efficiency measures.
